One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

Looking to loan or potentially purchase a 17hh and a 14.2-15-2hh equine for use at the RDA National Training Centre in Warwickshire. Will be used for RDA sessions, hacks, training days, competitions and commercial activity. Must be sane with a good trainable temperament and able to pass a minimum of a two-stage vetting. At RDA NTC equine welfare is our top priority with equines having a varied lifestyle, regular visits from healthcare professionals with loan agreements in place where applicable.

Wilson is a true best friend he tries his heart out for you. 

He is still young with lots to give and learn. 

But he is so sensible and just takes everything in his stride. 

We have had wilson over from Ireland last year he did abit with us and was fantastic he had a holiday over Xmas then has started this year doing bits and pieces and getting out and about. 

He has been to a couple of clinics one pole work one jump where he has just taken everything in his stride and gotten on with the job. 

He has been to the gallops where he would go behind infront wait literally was as good as gold. 

He has also been to an Active Riders camp at Somerford park where he was admired by many coaches, Riders and spectators. 

Just got his genuine attitude and temperament anything he wasn’t sure of one look one try penny dropped and was just amazing ! He gave his rider the best ride he has ability but is never silly spooky or spicy. (She’s fallen in love) 

He did the farm ride with 4 others he would lead go behind follow wait to video you just couldn’t have asked for more from him. He took park in XC SJ Grids etc.

He has ability scope temperament trainability and is ready to go out start doing more! He loves a smooch and a cuddle! He wants a best friend to look after and learn with. 

Not very many around like him, his flash and good looking with nice paces! But also still is a low maintenance hardy Irish type. 

Has hunted for couple days in Ireland before coming over where he was brave and mannerly. 

Came over shod but we’ve kept him barefoot since been out and he has lovely hard feet and hasn’t struggled without shoes.

Snaffle mouthed for everything not sharp or slow nice of leg 

Was great to clip we did all legs Head and feathers. 

Hacks very well alone or company .

Rocky is fun lightweight cob, Rocky has been in a long term home doing pony club and jumping recently was sold to a new home after been outgrown and just due to a previous experience owner has decided she is giving up. 

So we would like a fun home for Rocky. 

His schooling is basic and steady we’ve had all ages riding him. We took him out jumping he defo steps up a gear for jumping and knows his job well his careful and would be competitive against the clock. 

He hacks alone or in company. 

Snaffle mouthed for hacking schooling maybe needs abit more for someone smaller for jumping him.

He does have to be lead in a bridle or chain over nose headcollar else he just takes u where he wants to go. Doesn’t pull or even look if wearing bridle or chain.

Is great to be around good to clip and shoe. pulls odd face but has got better the more he has gotten to know us doesn’t follow anything through just pulls face ! 

Needs a home when he can be enjoyed have some fun his a lovely Allrounder he will do a little PC test from time to time but won’t be a dressage horse .

He basically can be abit of a misery so needs someone assertive and not offended. More he knows you better he is and his also a great guy !! Knows his job price reflects this.

He’s a darling to have around, has done loads of riding club and showjumping, a real hard to find confidence giving ride. He’s fun, easy and talented. Cookie offers three correct and balanced paces on the flat, he’s always ridden in a snaffle. Loads of competition experience and loves his jumping, always in the ribbons and loves to be out and about.

Good to do in all ways, fantastic in open spaces, bes not spooky or strong. Cookie is a super ride in traffic, brilliant with the farm vehicles here on site, a well loved and kind boy all round. He doesn’t like to be left alone in the stable yard, he doesn’t do anything other than walk the box, but cookie would like to be in a home where he isn’t left in a stable completely alone.
