Gray is a super sweet 4y/o 13.3hh Welsh C Palomino gelding, looking for his forever family.
He has been well handled since he was a foal and is very easy to do in all situations. He has been with me for backing for the last two months and has taken to everything like he has been doing it all his life. I am selling Gray on behalf of my nanny/ housekeeper, this was a fun project for me in exchange for extra help.
Sweet, kind, trainable and unflappable in nature, he has just recently been ridden by children as young as six and out hacking with an intermediate eight year old, cantering in open fields. He has not spooked, bucked or done anything remotely silly since we started working with him. He can be led in and out of the field, groomed and handled by my six year old daughter.
Gray has been trained under the TRT Method using the Preparing the Perfect Pony course and has fantastic groundwork, is trained to park by the block, to come back to the person in the middle when the rider stops riding, and to regulate his own emotions in all situations. As you can see in the video of him with the small child on him, he has perfect join up and will stick to the person on the ground and follow them all day. He has been given time to grow and mature and has had the best possible start in life.
He is hacking confidently and cantering out sensibly in a group, he goes in front or behind no problem at all. He does not suffer from separation anxiety at all so I don’t foresee solo hacking being an issue, he is always happy to lead and is often out ahead of other horses out hacking.
He has begun cantering and pole work in the arena so we can show prospective buyers but ideally he will do a lot more strength training out hacking before he is schooled too much more in the arena. He is always happy to give anything a go and the biggest challenge is always to not be too greedy in what you ask of him.
Gray is being taught to find his balance and reach for the contact and is forward off the leg with a lovely soft mouth. Has never once gone to bolt even when seeing large machinery out hacking with only a rope halter.
He did most of his training until the last few weeks in nothing more than a rope halter and he stops very easily to both nose and bit pressure. He is still finding his consistency in the contact but that is coming quickly. He would be perfect for someone who wanted to try liberty, bitless or bridleless riding as he is so sensible and so respectful of nose pressure and seat aids.
I have trained him to stop and turn in to the person on the ground in the arena when the rider goes neutral so that he would be very safe for children to ride. He parks and stands stock still in the arena or yard, I can drop the rope and walk away and he will stay put. Very calm when kids are fussing around him.
He will make the ultimate allrounder and best friend for a child, or a fab partner for a lightweight adult. The ideal mother daughter share.
He will only go to a knowledgable 5* home. We are looking for him to go to a person or family where he will get a lot of love and will be able to continue learning in a positive environment. Please no inexperienced horse owners, as he is young and would be untrained as easily as he has been trained.
Feel free to message me and we can arrange a time to speak about him- Beth
