Jennifer Rogers Recognized with 2000 Owner's Award

Ottawa, Ontario --- Jennifer Rogers of Cheltenham, ON, has been honoured with the 2000 Owner's Award, presented by the Jump Canada Board, in recognition of her dedicated support to the international level of show jumping.

Rogers has been a long-time supporter of Canadian Show Jumping Team member Jay Hayes and owns Uplands Farm, the facility where the Hayes family bases its North Ridge training operation.

Diva, the Hannoverian mare that, under Hayes, won the Canadian Olympic Selection Trials and represented Canada in Sydney, is owned by Uplands Farm.

Rogers also donated Raven and Flipper to the Canadian Equestrian Team as part of the Alfred E. Rogers Memorial Trust. Raven, a black Hannoverian gelding, has been a part of numerous Canadian team efforts at Nations' Cup competitions. In 1996, Hayes and Raven won the $50,000 Tropicana Grand Prix at the Collingwood Horse Show for the third year in a row, a feat never before accomplished in Canadian show jumping history.

Flipper, a Holstein stallion, has also been a member of Canadian Nations' Cup teams and, in 1999, won the $50,000 Jaguar Grand Prix at the Collingwood Horse Show.

Uplands Farm also owns Avalanche, the Swiss Warmblood ridden by Hayes' eldest daughter, 20-year-old Lauren Hayes. The up-and-coming grand prix combination had a successful 2000 season that included a fifth place finish in the Olympic Selection Trial in Bromont, QC.

Rogers is also Chair of the Jump Canada Board Fundraising Committee and organized this year's highly successful Didgeri-Do event which raised almost $100,000 to send the Canadian show jumping team to the Olympic Games.

In recognition of her outstanding commitment to Canadian show jumping, Rogers was presented with an engraved Waterford crystal bowl during November's Royal Horse Show in Toronto, ON.

Past winners of the Canadian Show Jumping Team Owner's Award include Faith Berghuis (1995) of Toronto, ON, the Anderson family (1996), the Southern family (1997), and Bonnie Will-Watson (1998) all of Calgary, AB and Eddie Creed (1999) of Schomberg, ON.

The Jump Canada Board is a committee of the Canadian Equestrian Federation responsible for all aspects of show jumping in Canada from the grass roots to the international level.
