WORLD CUP WORKING GROUP MET IN LAS VEGAS
The World Cup Working Group met during the 22nd World Cup Final in Las Vegas.
The Working Group recommended the allocation of the 23rd Final to Göteborg (SWE), which
was subsequently confirmed by the Executive Board. The 2001 Final will be held during Easter
time, from 12 to 16 April. It is the 11th time that the Final is organised in Göteborg,
which represents the biggest indoor sport event of Sweden with its 62,000 spectators each year.
The new format for the World Cup competitions of the Western European League,
introduced in the 1999/2000 season will also be used for the 2000/2001 season. A maximum of 45
riders may compete in the qualifying competition against the clock on the Friday. The Top 18 (including one home rider) may compete in the World Cup preliminary competition on Saturday.
COMMITTEE MEETING, LAS VEGAS
On the 22 April in Las Vegas, on the occasion of the World Cup Jumping Final, the Jumping
Committee held the first of two meetings scheduled in 2000. Among thediscussion were the following:
Nations Cup
The possible introduction of a Nations Cup Super League was considered at
length without a decision being reached.
Discussionon this matter will resume on the occasion of the next Committee meeting which is scheduled to
take place on the occasion of the 2000 Samsung Nations Cup World Final in Rome (ITA).
After the 2 October 2000 teams tying for any place following the second round of Nations Cup
competitions will be classified according to the accumulative times of the three best riders
in each team in the second round.
CSIO Podebrady (CZE) and CSIO Zagreb (CRO) in 2000
will be run according to the new rules for the Nations Cup competition as the team scores will
count for the 2000/2001 season.
Jumping Rules
- A number of clarifications to the rules will be published in the FEI Bulletin.
Invitation of riders to International events
The difficulty in obtaining invitations by some NFs to participate at
international events was once again discussed.
- Also considered was the number of riders permitted to receive invitations to international events by means of paying cards. Discussion
on this matter will resume on the occasion of the next Committee meeting.
Computer List
- The computer list may not be used to qualify riders for Grand Prix
competitions.
New rules for the computer list will be presented to the Committee for
approval during the next Committee meeting.
Lower Level Events for FEI Group V,
Lower level international jumping events with junior and senior riders competing in the same
competition are allowed for National Federations in Group V. These competitions may not exceed
1.40m in height.
- Travel Expenses for Three Star CSIO Events
- From the 2 October 2000 it will be optional whether three star CSIO events reimburse travel costs to officials
teams.
National Jumping Championships
- The Jumping Committee will recommend toNational Federations in Groups I and II that all
National Jumping Championships should be held on the same weekend. The FEI will establish an
appropriate date following consultation with Groups I and II. In principle, this should be
effective from the year 2004.
SAMSUNG NATIONS CUP 2000 SEASON
The first rounds of the 23 show Samsung Nations Cup millennium summer tour start this weekend
beginning with La Baule in France. Italy is in the top of the rankings, the Italians have a three point advantage over Ireland and
Switzerland with USA just one point away in the fourth place. This years Samsung Nations Cup
World Final will place at the magnificent Piazza di Siena in Rome, Italy, on 14 October.
For the Samsung Nations Cup class in La Baule, which is one of the four star events, there
is 400 000 FF in prize-money of the series over the years. The graph clearly shows that the total
prize-money has increased from 1996-1999.
