Upperville Hosts Hunter Breeding Judges Seminar

The American Horse Shows Association will hold a Hunter Breeding Judges Seminar at Blue Ridge Farm, Upperville, VA on September 25, 2000. Blue Ridge Farm was first developed by Henry T. Oxnard in 1903 and has belonged to the Grayson family ever since.

The clinic is being offered to all AHSA-licensed Hunter Breeding Judges and any applicants or potential applicants for these licenses. The panelists for the clinic will be Mrs. Betty Oare, Warrenton, VA and Mr. Raymond Francis, Bedminster, PA. The schedule is 9.30am - 5pm with live judging sessions.

Mrs. Oare, AHSA Breeding Committee Chairman, commented: " Blue Ridge is a lovely traditional farm and should be an excellent place to host this clinic. It's a nice time of year to see the stock, in particular the yearlings."

Oare and Francis are both 'R' rated judges. Francis is a prominent, professional horseman and an all-round showman of horses on the line.

Blue Ridge Farm is one of the oldest active thoroughbred breeding farms in the country and this will be the first time it has hosted an AHSA clinic. The farm stands a comprehensive sport horse stud and roster with 11 stallions, including Slavic and Rock Point - a popular hunter futurity sire. It previously stood famous thoroughbred stallions such as Cyane and Quadrangle.
