THE WILDWOOD EQUESTRIAN CENTER SECURES LAND ENCOMPASSING I-71
Wooster, OH - October 7, 1999
Representatives from the Wildwood Equestrian
Center (Wildwood) met with state, city and local government officials,
including Senator Grace Drake, at Ohio State University Agricultural
Research and Development Center's Fisher Auditorium.
Wildwood officials
announced they now have 1300+ acres of land officially under contract for
construction of their facility. According to an Ohio Department of
Transportation survey conducted in 1992, over 12 million drivers per year
will pass through the land which Wildwood has secured on both sides of I-71
in Wayne County.
A life-long resident of Ohio, Wildwood CEO Kevin Vincent stated, "After
enlisting the help of industry experts, planning for two years, and
extensively searching 28 counties for the most accessible location; I am
very pleased to present Ohio with an opportunity to host a world-class
equestrian center that uniquely invites the participation of all of all
breeds and all disciplines."
Greg Sautter, Director of Farm Operations at Ohio State Agricultural
Technical Institute (ATI) stated, "The development of Wildwood poses no
conflict to our programs and can only prove to compliment our facility's
goals. Wildwood will certainly be a positive addition to the state of
Ohio."
While Sautter's sentiments centered around ATI's willingness to accept
Wildwood's invitation to partner on the development of internship programs
and opportunities for employment, his observation represented an over-all
opinion shared by those attending the meeting.
Wildwood will not only become a model for the management and promotion of
all equestrian sports, but will offer to further enhance Ohio's travel and
tourism efforts by hosting a small percentage of non-equestrian events.
The state of Ohio, ranked sixth by a survey conducted by the American Horse
Council for greatest number of horses, will be gaining an excellent facility
for equine products, competitions, educational programs, workshops, clinics,
animal auctions, art exhibits, community fundraisers and concerts. Wildwood
will attract a multitude of equine participants from Ohio, the U.S. and many
other countries.
