| British Equestrain Tourism Qualifications |
|
The governing bodies of equestrian tourism in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland* have worked closely together to develop qualifications for those working in this field. These qualifications provide industry relevant, recognised standards at three levels: Assistant Ride Leader, Ride Leader and Riding Holiday Centre Manager. The last two are internationally recognised and accredited by FITE (Federation Internationale de Tourisme Equestre). Centres that employ fully qualified staff have seen the benefits, not least a substantial reduction in their insurance premiums. Since the introduction of the qualifications in 1997 over 228 riders have taken the exams, which are increasingly seen as necessary to anyone wishing to work at a riding holiday centre. The British Horse Society is to hold exams for the BET qualifications of Assistant Ride Leader and Ride Leader in September and October. Anyone wishing to take the exams should apply immediately to the Approvals Office, British Horse Society, Stoneleigh Deer Park, Kenilworth, Warwickshire CV8 2XZ.
